AZ(LAND) provides education both inside and outside the classroom. Through our ‘Barrio Innovation Community Academy’ We organize and participate in community events, engaging attendees and gathering community perspectives on local initiatives. As we embed ourselves in local community events our educational activities cover local history, centering native desert ecological solutions, and inequities. We use tactile, arts-based methods to engage community attendees that invite people of all ages and backgrounds to participate. This work intentionally engages with familiar and accessible spaces as we work to create inclusive environments.

Additionally, through our ‘Barrio Innovation Educator Academy,’ we focuses on educator development and capacity building supporting environmental and racial justice education, curriculum, and instruction. This involves co-creating project-based learning experiences, offering summer training around the Barrio Innovation approach, providing year-long teacher support, facilitating projects with the aim in addressing community inequalities through curriculum related to food sovereignty, water conservation, air quality, renewable energy, and increasing green spaces.
