Join us in the Greater Phoenix City Nature Challenge as we work to support community science initiatives learning about the local biodiversity and contributing to a wider scientific data set.

Did you know? When you participate in the City Nature Challenge, you are participating in community science. Community science invites anyone, regardless of identity or scientific training, to help collect and contribute data for scientific research projects of all sizes.

6:00am - 7:00am Nature Journaling & Apps Overview

  • Learn about community science tools

  • Learn techniques & practice

  • Strengthen observation skills

  • light snacks and drinks provided

7:00am - 8:00AM Eco walk

  • Engage in community science

  • Engage in movement in local spaces

  • Strengthen connection to local plants & animals

8:00am - 9:00am service pull with Protectors of the Salt River

  • learn about Invasive species along the Rio

  • Join Protectors in removing Invasive species

9:00am - 10:00am Breakfast with local vendor

  • Join Protectors of the Salt River and AZ(LAND) for a post breakfast meal
