Latin Art & Connection: Honoring Our Histories Through Art

Join AZ(LAND) and Desert Botanical Garden for an evening celebrating Latin art, Indigenous history, and the cultural connections that shape the Sonoran Desert.

Participants will explore a visual timeline highlighting the history of Phoenix, Indigenous innovations, demographic changes, and the environmental impacts of urban development. Through alebrije-inspired clay sculpture making and creative storytelling, community members will reflect on the past while imagining more equitable and environmentally resilient futures.

This interactive gathering connects cultural expression with environmental justice education, highlighting how art can preserve community histories and inspire collective action. The program also includes planned collaboration with CALA Alliance around alebrije-inspired button making.
